Wait. Trust. Hope.

Heyyyy there!! Today is Saturday and it’s going to be a GOOD day! Although, I want to share my thoughts with you all when it comes to those “harder” days, which I know we all have. First, let’s begin with an encouraging verse:

Isaiah 40:31 ESV

But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

 I looked at 3 different versions of this verse:

  • ESV says, “they who wait.”
  • NLT says, “those who trust.”
  • NIV says, “those who hope.”

So, now we know that waiting also means trusting & hoping.

At the end of the “harder” days I feel convicted by these questions:

  • Did I wait well on the Lord today? Or did I grow impatient and lose hope?
  • Did I trust God well today? Or was my lack of trust in Him the very reason why I categorized today as “harder?”

I’m still learning that:

  • Hard days are inevitable.
  • I struggle with doubt.
  • My joy tends to depend on what my circumstances look like.

My feelings are just like yours… fickle.

There are days I’m ashamed for not trusting God more, for not being patient enough. For some reason, as many times as God has proven His faithfulness to me, I still find myself uneasy of whether or not things will work out.

But let’s look back at that text reallllll quick:

“But they who wait for the LORD shall RENEW their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

GOD KNOWS WE HAVE HARD DAYS! He’s well aware that He will have to RENEW us, He will do it GLADLY!!

Lamentations 3:22-23

Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

  • Shame doesn’t have to consume us.
  • Impatience doesn’t have to consume us.
  • Doubt doesn’t have to consume us.

Why?? Because He is a loving Father, full of compassion that never, ever fails. In fact, His mercies are NEW every morning!!

I know hard days come, we can grow impatient, feelings fluctuate, our hope can seem shaken!

So…

  • For those of you that are waiting: He will renew your strength.
  • For those of you who are having trust issues: His compassion never fails. He can be trusted. He is faithful.
  • And last but not least, those who are losing hope:

Hebrews 6:18-19

So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.

Yes, “harder” days come and sometimes I forget to take hold of the hope He has set before me. But, what do we know about anchors??

They are firm, secure, and immovable!! As God’s children, we are attached to that trustworthy anchor of hope. Harder days come when we lose confidence in this truth. Let us all make the decision to allow God to renew us today, so then we will wait well in hopeful expectation of the one who is faithful and worthy of our trust.

My prayer:

Lord, today I will make the decision to let you renew me so that I can wait in hopeful expectation, so that I can trust you wholeheartedly. Today I want to walk in your strength, in your new mercies, in your promises. Consume me with your love and help me to take hold of your hope that is available for me. Thank you for being my trustworthy anchor. Great is your faithfulness.
