Let His Voice Be Your Light

(The pretty graphic designed quotes on this post and my previous one are made by my super talented best friend named Anna King! Hello pretty people! I have a simple word to share with you today and here it ’tis:

Okayyyy, everyone remembers at the beginning of time when God was all like, “Let there be light,” and there was light! (Genesis 3:1) It was His voice that brought light.

Keep that in mind.

Now, I want you to imagine yourself in an unknown dark hallway with your eyes closed and the lights are out. You are in complete darkness and have no direction of where to step, or where to turn. This is a good example of how it feels when we try to do things our own way and listen to our own voice, isn’t it?

God’s voice brings light and direction while my own voice brings darkness and confusion.

Here’s how I see it:

God’s voice = light = a lamp to my feet!

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

When God is leading you by the light of His lamp, hardly ever will you see the next step ahead of you lol. That is usually the point where I try to steal the lamp from God’s hand, out of fear of the future. In an attempt to take control into my hands and leaning on my own dang understanding, I find myself saying, “Oh look Hannah, what a shocker. You’re in the dark… again. You’re feeling lost… again.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

But, as I was referring to earlier, walking by faith really is like walking with your eyes closed. Good thing our eyes are sensitive to light and we can make our ears sensitive to God’s voice.

Far too often, I try to open my eyes to walk by sight!! That’s the same moment when fear and panic set in. But this is the promise that reels me back in:

John 8:12

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

My prayer for today:

Lord, I give you the lamp, guide me. Lord, I want your direction, speak to me. Lord, I need your light, I need your voice, I need your lamp.

But most of all, I want to ask that you give me great faith to trust you along the way to wherever we’re going. I’d rather walk with you, by your light than by myself, in the dark.

Oh and I thought I’d start sharing my favorite song from the day that I publish a blog post! Why not give it a hashtag while we’re at it? My Spotify worship playlist is called “Jesus Jamzzz” (you can follow that playlist on Spotfify if you’d like!) so let’s hashtag this: #JJOTD – Jesus Jam Of The Day

Today’s #JJOTD is:
