Harvest, Where Ya At?

Hello pretty people! Man, I have some words to share with you today that God has been speaking into my heart so clearly this past week. The other day I saw this sign that said, “The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.” I found myself in denial from this sign because my response was, “Well, what if I’ve sown my seeds of prayer for a long time and I’ve been faithful to God, yet I still haven’t reaped my harvest of fruit?”

Whoaaaa, I just went there and I’d like to ask, who else feels like they’ve been sowing seeds of prayer for what seems like FOREVER?! What do you do when it feels like the harvest just won’t come, the breakthrough still hasn’t happened, the prayer still hasn’t been answered? Is there a reason for this delay?

Matthew 7:7 says, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.”

But it just… hasn’t.

The answer hasn’t come, the door still hasn’t been opened. How are we suppose to stay hopeful and keep the faith when circumstances and people just aren’t changing? To us, we’ve been praying for a long period of time and God still hasn’t come in at, what we think, is the “right” time. God is always going to be early or late on our timetable but God is always perfectly on His timetable. Remember this promise:

Deuteronomy 11:11-14

11 Rather, the land you will soon take over is a land of hills and valleys with plenty of rain— 12 a land that the Lord your God cares for. He watches over it through each season of the year!13 “If you carefully obey the commands I am giving you today, and if you love the Lord your God and serve him with all your heart and soul, 14 then he will send the rains in their proper seasonsthe early and late rainsso you can bring in your harvests of grain, new wine, and olive oil.

We don’t serve a God of lacking, He is the God of more than enough.

Deuteronomy 8:9

It is a land where food is plentiful and nothing is lacking. It is a land where iron is as common as stone, and copper is abundant in the hills.

Psalm 34:10

Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.

I’m not going to lie, sometimes it seriously stings when I truly feel like I’m lacking what I feel would be such a good thing, when I believe that I should have already reaped the blessings from my sown seeds of prayer! From my understanding, if I am faithful and obedient to God, I should receive the good things. Then I have to look at things from a different perspective. Earlier this week God made it very real to me that He isn’t a God to be completely understood, but a God to be trusted. Why does He withhold things from us? Because it’s actually not good, because it’s not His best, because He is protective.

For those of you who have felt discouraged by your season of waiting on the harvest, here are some reminders for you and I both:

  • Be honest with God about your feelings towards the season of waiting. It’s okay to remind Him of the promises He’s made to you. Go ahead and thank Him for what He’s already done and thank Him in advance for all that He will do.
  • If you are worried about the harvest not coming, or that it may be taking too long to come, it’s time you walk by faith & talk by faith. If what you’re saying is causing you to doubt God’s power in your life, stop talking. Immediately start worshipping. It’s time to worship instead of worry. Doubt is just the Devil’s way to make you believe the lie that your blessing isn’t coming. God says, He WILL send the rains in their proper seasons—the early and late rains—so you can bring in your harvests of grain, new wine, and olive oil. It’s not an “if,” it’s a “when.”
  • Be disciplined with your thoughts, take each one captive. Be consistent in trusting the Lord with your heart, with your season, with your blessing, and with your harvest.

Keep sowing your seeds of prayer, He’s listening. You’re harvest is coming sweet friend, don’t worry. Trust God with where you are and how you feel, simply because He’s trustworthy, simply because He’s good. Don’t over-complicate this season, grow through it.

Galatians 6:9

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

Love & Blessings,

Hannah
