From Glory To Glory

Heyyyy there! Today’s post is an exciting one for me to share! To begin, I want to start by asking you a couple of questions and making a few statements that may express how you feel:

  • Anybody else get nervous that once you leave something in the past, you may not experience anything better?
  • Maybe a chapter of your life just ended and it’s time for a new beginning?
  • Perhaps you’re someone looking at the state of your life right now and thinking, “It’s crazy that just a few months ago, things were more normal and… good. Now I just don’t know what to think of things. I miss the old way of life.”
  • It just so happens you had to say a hard goodbye and you’re worried about welcoming a new thing in again, you’re afraid of new experiences.

I’d like to give you a quote of encouragement:

There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.

C.S. Lewis

Recently I was reading in 2 Corinthians chapter 3 (verses 7-18) where it talks about the glory of the New Covenant between God and His people. Since Paul had lived under both covenants, the Old Covenant of God’s law and the New, He is comparing the two. The Old Covenant of God’s law for Israel was delivered in glory but required death, which resulted in sacrifice of animals to atone for their sin. Although, the New Covenant gives a new approach to grace by saying, all who come to God through faith in Christ can receive grace!

2 Corinthians 3:8-11

Shouldn’t we expect far greater glory under the new way, now that the Holy Spirit is giving life? If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God! In fact, that first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming glory of the new way. So if the old way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new, which remains forever!

I share these details with you today to give you an illustration of how things can bring a certain amount of glory in an old season of life but can be even more glorious in a new one! The Old Covenant was the normal and traditional way of doing things but God had a different & better method in mind for His people.

Do you think it was easy for God’s people to completely turn from what was familiar to them? I’m sure it wasn’t. They probably had a hard time adjusting or even a hard time trusting. When you leave an old thing, it’s uncomfortable. But, you’ll never know how much more glorious life could be unless you agree to move from one glory to the next!

2 Corinthians 3:18

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

These verses state that we can receive God’s grace, uncover our eyes, & see the glory of the Lord!! My friends, we are going FROM glory TO glory!! Not only are we consistently being TRANSFORMED from how we use to look in order to look more like the image of God but we are also constantly being TRANSITIONED from old life to new life!! We are continually being met with more & greater glories! God provides infinite glory, which means, life has the the potential, ability, & PROMISE to keep getting better & better!

So, what I am saying is:

  • God has new glories for you to experience that are FAR, FAR more glorious compared to the ones you left in the past!
  • There may be a new way of doing things that you have to adapt to but it can be BETTER than what you expect!
  • Keep seeking God’s glory. Continue seeking to be transformed to look more like Christ. Consistently keep seeking to transition into the glory God has for you!

Paul shows us that the ministry of the Spirit, under the New Covenant, brings an even greater glory than the old ministry that involved death. I hope you see that the glory of the new way God has available for you will far surpass the former glory revealed to you. To end this blog post I want to end it with one of my favorite verses ever:

Isaiah 43:18-19

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
